Journal entry five from my conversation with Nicola Scott on her podcast The Refreshing Change is on root cause. You can listen to this section of our discussion, along with some accompanying thoughts, below. You can also listen to the full episode on Apple, Spotify or at nicolascottcoaching.com.
Five • On Root Cause
As a deeply practical person a natural question for me to ask of anything is: what is the root cause?
You can hear my thoughts in the clip above on how this can be addressed in the form hypnotherapy.
But on a less practical, perhaps more spiritual level, I also subscribe to the idea that everything - every thought, word and deed - stems from one of two sources: love or fear.
This is a polarity that I think drives 99.9% of human behaviour. It is not always obvious from where our actions arise, even to ourselves. But if we ask ourselves the question enough times we can almost always identify where something is arising from in us. Essentially, am I doing this from a root of love or am I doing this from a root of fear?
The goal, I suppose… the ‘enlightened’ outcome, is love.
MYM Journal discussion points from The Refreshing Change
This was recorded before I launched MYM as a practice - at the time, it was only an idea with a fledgling podcast (How To: Manage Your Mind). It was also before I undertook any formal training in mindfulness, meditation and hypnotherapy. How time flies…
Given the depth of conversation and how the ideas informed my thinking over the resulting 12 months I’m taking the opportunity to break it down into a series of MYM Journal entries landing with you on a Saturday morning for some light weekend consideration.
You’re always welcome here.
